Press Release

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (January 22, 2020) — The Pflugerville City Council approved a contract between the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) Board of Directors and Cox Construction in the amount of $956,625.90 for water park modification and intersection improvements located at FM 685 and Town Center Drive in Pflugerville during their regular meeting January 14. The PCDC unanimously approved the contract December 18 and forwarded to council for consideration.

The PCDC infrastructure project relocates the existing Typhoon Texas water park entrance north to align with Town Center Drive, provides for new signalization, deceleration lanes and sidewalks in the TxDot right-of-way on FM 685.

“Improvements to the PCDC property are needed to provide safer and easier access for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and also set the stage for a new year-round restaurant to be introduced in 2021 by Typhoon Texas,” said Amy Madison, PCDC Executive Director. “The park continues to provide jobs for young adults, recreation for the region, and generates sales tax onsite and in area retail establishments.”

According to the contract, completion of modifications will be within 150 calendar days after the first day of construction has begun. With this requirement, Madison noted that all modifications are scheduled for completion before the park opens in May 2020.
