PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (July 1, 2021) — Amazon is set to hire 1,000 full-time employees to prepare for the opening of its 3.8M Square-foot facility in Pflugerville, Texas. Positions will play an essential role by working alongside high-tech robotics to ship items to Amazon distribution centers throughout the country.

Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) and the Workforce Solutions Capital Area (WFSCA) have organized a webinar alongside the Amazon Workforce Staffing Team, which will take place on July 7, 2021, at 10 a.m. and will focus on Amazon’s application process, hiring procedures, benefits and more.

“I’m thrilled to begin the hiring process and look forward to providing the talented local workforce with great pay, benefits, and a safe work environment,” said Mike Pelonero, General Manager at Amazon. “From the local jobs we bring, to the local people we employ, train, and upskill—our business is made up of people from the communities like Pflugerville.”

As part of the performance agreement announced by the PCDC and the City of Pflugerville in July 2020, the PCDC is responsible for coordinating alongside WFSCA to host an Amazon information session prior to the facility opening for operation this coming August.

“This is the largest hiring event in the history of the City of Pflugerville, and we recognize the opportunity it presents for our local residents,” said Amy Madison, PCDC Executive Director. “Our partnership with Workforce Solutions Capital Area is invaluable in helping us identify and

inform Pflugerville residents regarding the Amazon application process. Following the webinar, the recording will be made available at our website for those who are unable to attend.”

The session will be geared primarily towards positions that support the facility by preparing customer orders (picking, packing and shipment). On top of Amazon’s industry-leading minimum starting wage of $15 per hour, full-time employees receive comprehensive benefits, including full medical, vision and dental insurance as well as a 401(k) with 50 percent company match. The health and safety of employees is Amazon’s number one priority—and has been since day one. Amazon works closely with health and safety experts and scientists, conducts thousands of safety inspections each day, and has made hundreds of changes as a result of employee feedback.

In addition, Amazon supports employees with paid leave so they can take time off without having to worry about missing a paycheck. The company also offers up to 20 weeks of maternal and parental paid leave and innovative benefits such as Leave Share and Ramp Back, which give new parents flexibility to support their growing families.

To participate in the information session, interested applicants must register for the webinar at www.pfdevelopment.com/amazon-jobs.
