What we reported In January, we reported Hawaiian Falls had resolved a default that had occurred in November 2015 when the water park company failed to pay the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. its scheduled payments. PCDC Executive Director Amy Madison confirmed that Hawaiian Falls had repaid the November and December 2015 payments in addition to the January 2016 payment and penalties, putting the company back in good standing.
In December we reported that Hawaiian Falls had again defaulted on its lease with the PCDC, owing the organization about $400,000 in lease payments. The PCDC, along with Pflugerville City Council, held a joint meeting Dec. 15 announcing they would dissolve the agreement with Hawaiian Falls and would enter into negotiations with Typhoon Texas, a water park company based in Katy, Texas, to operate the park going forward.
The latest An agreement was reached at a joint meeting of the PCDC and City Council held Jan. 4. The agreement makes Typhoon Texas the new operator of the water park.
What’s next The park will be renamed Typhoon Texas, and improvements including additional rides, will be made to the park over the next several months. The PCDC, city of Pflugerville and officials from Typhoon Texas all anticipate the opening of a much-improved park in time for the upcoming summer season.
