Waterpark taking applications for seasonal help, renovations underway

Typhoon Texas began preparing for the upcoming season shortly after finalizing an agreement with the city of Pflugerville and the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation earlier this month to take over operation of the water park formerly known as Hawaiian Falls at 18500 SH 130, Pflugerville. Construction crews are on-site and the company has seasonal job openings listed on its website.

Renovations to the park will include repairs to some existing park features and the addition of a children’s play area called the Gully Washer, a splash pad playground featuring seven slides, spray areas and an 800 gallon suspended water bucket that tips over and splashes the entire play area.

Additional renovations include resurfacing of the park including areas that featured gravel, stone and sand. Renovations have also started on the park’s concession areas, restrooms and landscaping. Typhoon Texas is expected to invest at least $4.5 million into the park over the next two years for park improvements including repairs, maintenance, new attractions and technology for operations.

In addition to renovations, the park is also preparing for its upcoming season by hiring seasonal employees. Job postings on the online application site list seasonal jobs for the Pflugerville location with positions connected to park operations, water safety, and administration. Although most full-time positions for the Pflugerville location have been filled, including the hiring of Ty Weitzel as the park’s general manager, a representative from Typhoon Texas did confirm the Pflugerville water park is still looking for two full-time sales managers.

Typhoon Texas is slated to open in May.
