Press Release

PFLUGERVILLE, Dec. 13, 2016—After more than a year of deliberation, the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation is presenting options to the City of Pflugerville City Council regarding the future of Hawaiian Falls Pflugerville this week. The Pflugerville City Council will consider action at a Special Meeting with the PCDC Board of Directors at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at Pflugerville Council Chambers, 100 E. Main Street.

Source Horizon LLC, which owns Hawaiian Falls Waterparks, failed to make payments to PCDC as outlined in a negotiated agreement, providing an opportunity for the City of Pflugerville and PCDC to explore alternative park operators.

“Our goal with the waterpark has always been to provide a positive experience for residents and guests, and while we have not fully achieved that goal, opportunities exist for us to maximize the guest experience,” PCDC Executive Director Amy Madison said. “The PCDC is fully aligned with the Pflugerville City Council in making sure our park meets and exceeds all expectations and is an excellent representation of our community.”

For more than a year, PCDC staff and city staff have researched alternatives to Source Horizon and Hawaiian Falls.

The council will consider new options for management of the water park this week. Wade said city taxpayer dollars are not part of the scenarios being considered.

“We share the community’s concerns about Hawaiian Falls as it is currently operated,” Wade said. “With the right operator, we see potential for a beautiful water park offering a safe, family-friendly environment and high-quality guest experiences. The city council and PCDC are working together to find the best solution for Pflugerville.”
