Dozens of Pflugerville business and community leaders attended the first Business Pfirst meeting hosted by the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation on Sept. 7.

The inaugural quarterly meeting gathered more than 70 business owners, chamber of commerce, city, county and school officials to Pflugerville’s newest hotel, the Courtyard Marriott, a success story for Pflugerville Community Development Corporation.

The goal of the meeting, and the Business Pfirst program, is to support the goals of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy developed earlier this year by the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation.

Corporation Executive Director Amy Madison said the partnerships in the community have helped bring new business to the city. The program is designed to help connect businesses to resources and to each other.

“PCDC has long served the community with business retention and expansion efforts, but the launch of the Business Pfirst program signals a shift in resources and strategic focus in connecting with Pflugerville businesses regularly and helping to address their needs as they arise,” Madison said. “We kick off this program with our first quarterly meeting and announcing the new Pflugerville Business Directory, a digital magazine that provides catalogued resources with links and contact information.

The program will be led by Pflugerville Community Development Corporation Development Director Christian Kurtz, who has been with the corporation for five years. Kurtz will lead quarterly meetings and work with Pflugerville businesses, city of Pflugerville officials and various organizations that provide professional resources to businesses.

“We are committed to ensuring that our Business Pfirst meetings remain relevant and useful to our business owners because their time is so valuable,” Kurtz said. “Hurricane Harvey was an important topic during our inaugural meeting and we will continue to bring relevant topics to our industry leaders throughout the year.”

The directory will be launched on Oct. 1 at www.pfdevelopment.com
