“The city and PCDC went out of their way to help us navigate through the development process and ensure that we have the resources and the environment we need to be a fast-growing company.” – John Garrett, Publisher

community impactJohn and Jennifer Garrett launched Community Impact Newspaper in 2005 in temporary office space in Pflugerville. Their first edition covered Round Rock and Pflugerville and was produced by John, Jennifer and 3 full-time employees. Today Community Impact Newspaper provides coverage in more than 24 cities, is Texas’ fastest-growing news organization and the most widely distributed news source at the community level.

With a total mailed circulation of more than a million and over 95 employees, the Garrett’s have been on a fast track for expansion. Luckily, Pflugerville has everything they need to grow their business. ”Pflugerville and the surrounding areas boast amazing talent and we’ve found that many employees who work for us do so because our location is close to home,” says John Garrett.

“Other factors that led to our decision to expand in Pflugerville include direct access to toll roads which gives us easy mobility around Central Texas, an abundant educated workforce and a business-friendly city staff and elected officials. The City and the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) went out of their way to help us have the resources and the environment we need to be a fast-growing company. They were aggressive in their incentives to keep us here when we were ready to build a permanent facility. The thing I appreciate most about the leadership here is that they are genuine in their desire to help us and they followed through with their commitments,” says Garrett.

“Most of all, we can count on the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation to come through with what they say they are going to do. Floyd Akers and his team helped us navigate through the development process with a true customer service attitude. This is a rare find in the development arena.

We are proud to be in Pflugerville and are thankful for our partnership with the city and the PCDC. We have big plans for the future and will be able to realize those in part because of our location and the support we receive here.”
