Baseball, Softabll Training Facility D-BAT Expands to Central Texas with Pflugerville Location
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas—The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) today announced D-BAT Baseball & Softball Academy, a premier training facility and pro shop franchise, will open this fall in Pflugerville. D-BAT Pflugerville will be located at 130 Commerce Center, a new mixed-use development under construction at the southwest corner of SH 130 and Pecan Street.
“D-BAT is entering the Central Texas market with a Pflugerville location first and plans to add additional locations in the region,” PCDC Executive Director Floyd Akers said. “This is great for the community and surrounding area because D-BAT offers high-quality training for baseball and softball players and sells products that were previously not available in this market.”
D-BAT will occupy approximately 18,000 to 24,000 square feet in the first building at the Pecan 130 Business Park at 130 Commerce Center.
Franchisee Jim Foster opened his first D-BAT in Frisco, Texas, in 2009. This will be his second location. Foster’s son James Foster is the general manager for D-BAT Pflugerville.
“When we first considered expanding to Central Texas, we looked at high-growth areas where new industry was coming in. Pflugerville made the most sense because it is so similar to Frisco, where our first D-BAT location has been open and successful for four years,” Foster said. “What appealed to us most about the area was the proximity to the tollway in a fast-growing, progressive community with a large number of elementary, middle and high schools nearby.”
The new D-BAT Academy layout in Pflugerville is in the design stage; additional details about the training facility and retail store will be announced this fall in coordination with a grand opening.
About 130 Commerce Center
130 Commerce Center is a 160-acre, master-planned, mixed-use development located at the southwest corner of SH 130 and Pecan Street in Pflugerville. Pecan 130 Business Park is a light-industrial/flex project within the 130 Commerce Center development that includes plans for six 120,000 square foot buildings. D-BAT will be located in the first of the six buildings.
The PCDC bought the 160 acres to develop the site as a mixed-use development in 2008. Commercial real estate firm Don Quick & Associates was later hired by the PCDC to help market and sell the land at 130 Commerce Center.
The developer of the Pecan 130 Business Park also hired Don Quick & Associates to help secure lease agreements for its light industrial buildings. Charles Harvey and Robert Shore with Don Quick & Associates represents the landlord, and Andrew Beckman with Glacier Commercial Realty represented D-BAT.
TrackingPoint, Inc., is expected to be the first occupant at Pecan 130 Business Park at 130 Commerce Center with an anticipated move in late this summer. Community Impact Newspaper also broke ground on new corporate headquarters at 130 Commerce Center and expects to move in by the end of the year.
